Engineering Insights numbers you can trust

This release tightens the numbers behind Engineering Insights so the detail you open matches what the headline reports. Security Posture, DORA, PR Flow, and CI/CD Health all read more accurately, including for the largest organizations connected to GitHub. Group Insights and the Engineering Velocity Score settings get a cleaner layout, and device agents move to a recommended macOS 1.8.1 build with a clearer setup flow for IT teams.

What's new

Security Posture counts that match

The open alert count and the detail list now tell the same story in Engineering Insights, Security Posture.
  • View all no longer under-counts: it lists every open alert for typical organizations, and shows the most severe top N of M when the list is capped
  • The "Fix these first" preview highlights the five highest-severity alerts, so the most urgent work is visible without scrolling
  • Each alert sits on a single, scannable row, with the identifier and exploit probability inline and long package names trimmed cleanly
  • Security Posture keeps a deeper set of the most severe open alerts, so the detail list lines up with the headline for most organizations

Sharper DORA, PR Flow, and CI metrics

Delivery and review metrics read more accurately, and they hold up for large organizations instead of failing or showing gaps.
  • Change failure rate computes more reliably, and failed production deployments now appear in the deployments drill-in alongside successes
  • The DORA Type filter selects correctly, and toggle and chart layouts line up across panels
  • PR Flow adds a Size view with total pull requests, total lines changed, the largest pull requests, and clearer hover details
  • For organizations with hundreds of repositories, loading several weeks of history now returns complete or clearly partial results instead of failing or showing a false zero
  • CI/CD Health spacing and chart sizing align with the surrounding panels

Cleaner Group Insights and EVS settings

Group views and the Engineering Velocity Score settings are easier to scan.
  • Group Insights tiles, capacity and delivery comparisons, and OKR sections use a soft full-card color wash tied to each group's color, with a deeper wash on hover
  • Engineering Velocity Score pillar cards (Output, Speed, Quality, Collaboration, AI Leverage) share the same cleaner styling
  • On wider screens, collapsed pillars sit two across, and expanding one uses the full width for its threshold controls
  • The settings panel scrolls cleanly, so weight totals and pillar controls stay reachable on smaller screens
  • Scoring, weights, and thresholds are unchanged; only the layout improves

Device Agents: macOS 1.8.1 and a clearer rollout

The recommended macOS agent moves to 1.8.1, and the install and fleet views are easier for IT teams to work through.
  • macOS 1.8.1 is the recommended build, and the fleet table flags 1.8.0 machines as out of date
  • The install card is collapsed by default and lays out clear steps for macOS, Windows, and Chrome
  • Download always serves the latest available signed build, rather than holding it behind the recommended version
  • The deployed agent configuration view shows a clear loading state while settings load
  • Device fleet data stays reliable for the largest deployments

Who benefits

  • Security and risk owners: Security Posture detail counts match the headline, with the most urgent alerts surfaced first
  • Engineering and delivery leaders: change failure rate, failed deployments, and PR size insights read more accurately, including at large scale
  • Engineering managers: cleaner Group Insights and Engineering Velocity Score settings make team configuration easier to scan
  • IT and operations admins: macOS 1.8.1 and a clearer install flow simplify device agent rollout across the fleet
  • Large GitHub organizations: Engineering Insights returns complete or clearly partial results instead of failing on long history loads

Try it

  • Open Engineering Insights > Security Posture and use View all to see the full open alert list
  • Check DORA for change failure rate and the deployments drill-in, now including failed production deploys
  • Review the PR Flow Size view for total pull requests, lines changed, and your largest pull requests
  • Adjust pillar weights in Engineering Velocity Score settings, now easier to scan on wide screens
  • Update your fleet to macOS 1.8.1 from Integrations > Device Agents
